Introductions & Other Issues

Alright, so, after a discussion with Kerosene, we have realized we both have the same feelings on this matter.

Introductions.

We have introductions for new members, to introduce themselves. It doesn't have to be 5 paragraphs long, explaining what you do in your free time! Instead, all it really has to be is ' Hey there, my name is ____. I just joined this forum, and I'm pretty excited!' That's about it. We're just getting tired of new members joining, and just posting in something like Games, or Shows, or Adoptions, etc. We would like to get to know you! So, this isn't me telling all the active members to go post in the introductions area if you haven't already.

Also, don't post your first or second post in the advertisement. That shows us that you want to advertise your site, and, if you aren't active, that will signal to us that your account was created to advertise, and that's it. If that is so, it is in danger of being deleted.

This is just something that has been on our minds, and we might have to make these things into rules if it gets serious.

In addition to 'advertising'.... C'mon guys. It's as simple as black and white to tell who joined a forum just to advertise their site(s). It's quite ridiculous, to say the least, because if you become BANNED from CKC (or anywhere else for that matter) because all you've done is advertise your site(s) and not be an active member of the community, then your site will become infamous and you, as a person, may even become notorious in the Petz Community, if you will. Just don't do it; kay?

"Hey, you know that Kerosene?"
"Yeah."
"All she does is advertise her site. She's just not cool."
"What a n00b! I don't know her personally, but I don't think I want to know her. She's not really a member at all."
"Nobody knows her personally because all she does is post in the advertisement threads on every single forum!"
"If she tries to join my forum, I'll delete her account."

^ all in all, people really do not appreciate advertising on their forums when you're not even a true-blue member. It's just annoying. Try participating in shows, or in adoptions, or in breeding services, or hexing, or just chatting in the general chat board or game board. Anyone who has been an admin or even a moderator of a forum knows how irritating a member with zero forum-participation can be.

I'm pretty sure Jack Sparrow & myself (I know for certain that I do) consider "Hit&RUN" advertising as SPAM. And you do not want to be known as a spammer. **If you hit&RUN advertise on this forum, your account will be deleted and the thread that you started will be deleted (as in, your efforts will have all been done in vain).

As for Introductions;
I am absolutely, and possibly, the freakin' WORST at introducing myself. Call me the Queen of Awful Introductions, if you will (don't do this, I will beat you up in the parking lot behind your local grocery store ~jk lol, I'm not that bad). Just get passed all of your awkwardness and take the dive! Just write a few things about yourself (I'll come up with a few questions that you can answer in your introduction thread if you get stuck) so people know who you are and can familiarize themselves with you. Who knows, you may even have a lot in common! One of the last things that any one of us would like to do is write out a forum for you to post as an introduction or write rules as to how you should introduce yourself. That's not fun for either side.

If you're stuck on introductions, here are some basics that you can consider putting into your introduction:

• What's your name/What do you go by?
  
• How old are you?
  
• What is your current/past occupation(s)? (if applicable)
  
• What are your favorite films and/or TV shows?
  
• What are your favorite bands/artists?
  
• What are some of your hobbies? (Roleplaying, horseback riding, drawing, reading, etc.)
  
• What is your favorite animal, color, planet, season, meal/food, actor/actress, musical, etc.?
  
• Do you have any siblings?
  
• Where do you hail from and where do you currently reside?
  
• Are you a new or old to the Petz Community? (If you're an old timer, you might as well mention some of your past usernames to see if anyone recognizes you!)
  
• What is your favorite thing to do in the Petz Community? (Breed, hex, show, etc.)
  
• What are some things that you like/dislike?
  

In conclusion, a last ditch-effort on these situations would be the following;

-NO MORE ADVERTISING BOARDS. Period.

-If an introduction is not within your first five posts, then you will receive a warning level of 25%. If it is not within your first 20 posts, then you will be banned.


I hope you all can understand the position that Jack Sparrow & myself are in. It's quite tough and we had to address this problem. I also really hope that you guys don't think that what I have written is too harsh. ^^; But I had to put my foot down at some point.
